Ordering your custom portrait
A step by step guide
Step 1: You send me a photograph, or a selection of photos, they should be as high resolution as possible to help me capture the tiny details and produce my life like work. If you don’t have a suitable photograph we can arrange to have professional photographs taken. Click here to read more about my photography packages. To email me with your photograph(s) click here
Step 2: I assess your photos and send you an e-mail with recommendations and guideline prices. I try to be as accurate as possible with my quote, you can expect that very detailed pieces including elements such as checked shirts, curly hair etc. will take longer to produce as they are so intricate, which will in turn affect the price. Please email me for a price list.
Step 3: We discuss your order and decide on materials, size and any cropping of the original photograph will be approved by you. I will also give you a final price and an estimate on how long your order will take me to complete.
Step 4: I send you an invoice including all the details we have discussed.
Step 5: You make payment. I currently accept direct bank transfer, credit, debit card and PayPal payment options. Once your payment is complete I will start work.
Step 6: I prepare my easel and tools and get to work. You can see me at work here.
Step 7: I keep you updated with sneak peeks so you can see how the work is progressing, remember, if it is a gift you need to keep those sneaky peeks secret!
Step 8: I’ve come to a place where I am happy with your art! I send you a finished photo for your approval. If you have any changes you would like me to make I will of course make them for you until you are 100% delighted with my work.
Step 9: Don’t have time to take your artwork to the framers? No problem. I have a selection of beautiful frames and mount boards for you to choose from. I’ve put together a range which complements my artwork’s palette perfectly, and can also help you make the best choice for your décor. You save time and money, and your art will be ready to hang from the moment you receive it.
Step 10: My customers often love their pieces so much that they want to share them with their family and friends. I can arrange custom printing of your art on to signed archival prints, selected giftware items such as notecards or mugs.
Step 11: I package up your order to make its journey to you. If you live in or around Amsterdam I can deliver myself, or I will put it in the mail for you. You are also welcome to collect your order from my studio in Hoofddorp.
And that’s how we go from photograph to timeless work of art.
